Middlesex Centre · Municipal Election 2026

Sean Hunt for Mayor

Fresh energy at our council table.
A strong voice at the County.

Ilderton · Bryanston · Arva · Komoka · Delaware, and every concession in between

I've sat at a lot of tables with Sean Hunt. He's always the one who read the material, asked the hard question, and then found a way to get everyone to yes.

I'm asking what matters.

Ten minutes, in your own words. No forms, no checkboxes. Tell me what it's like living where you live, and see how your neighbours answered.

Meet Sean

Rooted here, ready to get to work

My family and I have called Middlesex Centre home for more than fifteen years. Like you, we've watched this community grow and change: new families putting down roots in our villages, farms passing through generations on the concessions, and the same rural character that made us all choose to live here. Every village, every hamlet, every farm: the mayor represents all of us.

I've spent my career as an IT software team lead: bringing teams together, delivering complex projects, and modernizing the systems people rely on so they are easier to use and quicker to answer. That work starts with listening to the people doing the job, then agreeing on a plan everyone can follow. It's the same work a growing municipality needs at the council table.

From 2018 to 2022 I served our community as a Thames Valley District School Board trustee, where I pushed for accountability and asked the hard questions about spending and oversight. What I learned there is how much good comes from asking early, reading the whole report, and giving staff a clear, steady direction to work with. I'll bring that same care to the decisions Middlesex Centre and the County make.

Being mayor is really two jobs: leading our council here at home, and representing Middlesex Centre at Middlesex County Council. Both come down to the same thing, showing up prepared and working well with the people around the table. I'm ready to give both my full attention. Every meeting. Every time.

  • 15+ years in Middlesex Centre
  • IT software team lead
  • TVDSB trustee, 2018–2022

Our Priorities

Our priorities

Recreation & community facilities

Our arenas, parks and halls are where kids grow up and neighbours meet. As mayor, I will work with council to keep them in top shape, and use better planning data to know where new rec space is actually needed as our community grows, not guesswork.

Support for every generation

Young families are choosing Middlesex Centre, and more neighbours are choosing to stay right here in retirement. As mayor, I will lead council in pushing for child care spaces, school-ready sites in new neighbourhoods, better ways to get around, and housing options that let seniors stay in the community they built.

Fair water & wastewater rates

New here? Your water bill may have surprised you. We have an excellent system, built for the growth that's coming, but fewer of us share its cost for now. As more homes and businesses connect, that fixed cost is shared more widely, and as mayor I will lead the work of sharing costs fairly, backed by clear data so residents can see how the numbers were reached.

Building this community together

The people building here are building our community: the homes young families start in, the shops we stop at, the neighbourhoods our kids will grow up in. Middlesex Centre already leads on online permitting, and as mayor I will back our staff with the training and technology to make working with us clear, quick and predictable, so good projects get built well and on time.

Rural roads, drainage & broadband

If you live on a concession, you deserve the same attention as a new subdivision. Many rural road, drainage and internet decisions are made at Middlesex County Council, and your mayor sits at that table. I will be there every time, working for safe roads, drainage that protects our farms as the climate changes, and internet you can count on, using better data to prioritize which roads and drainage projects need attention first.

Modern, efficient government

Middlesex Centre is already a leader in online permitting. As mayor, I will build on that with real investment and training for our staff, and smart use of AI where it truly helps, making it even easier to get answers, book the arena, track a permit, or have your say from home.

Two hats, one job

One more thing ties all of this together. In Middlesex Centre, the mayor has two jobs. One is leading our own council here at home. The other is representing all of us at Middlesex County Council, where decisions about paramedic service, long-term care at Strathmere Lodge, social services, libraries and many of our roads are made.

That seat only works if someone shows up prepared, every time. I'm ready to be a full-time voice for Middlesex Centre at both tables. Every meeting. Every time.

What Are We Paying For?

Oct 27, 2026 · @Sean Hunt The morning after I ran for mayor, and I lost. Congratulations to Mayor-elect John Brennan, and thank you to the 2,188 residents who voted for a different direction. Now the harder part. Just 36.1% of us voted, but 100% of us will pay the bill.

Make the stop: school bus cameras for Middlesex County

Every school morning, buses stop on roads around Middlesex Centre where traffic moves fast and sightlines run long. Most drivers do the right thing and wait. Some don't, and when a car slides past a stopped bus with its lights flashing and its arm out, a child is the one at risk.

Green bins, a new playground, and council news from October 7

A few things landed on the municipality's website on October 9 that are worth passing along. The biggest one: council directed staff to proceed with a Green Bin pilot for Ilderton, Komoka, Kilworth and Delaware, starting April 1, 2027, pending budget approval.

How to Vote

Voting is online or by phone, October 19–26

No lines, no polling station. Middlesex Centre votes by internet and telephone. Three things to do:

1

Make sure you're on the list

Your PIN letter goes only to people on the Voters List, and the online portal closed August 12. To confirm, add or update your information now, contact the municipality's Voter Help Centre: 519-666-0190 · clerk@middlesexcentre.ca. Some updates happen right over the phone; others need a quick visit to the municipal office with Ontario photo ID. Here's the municipality's step-by-step guide.

2

Watch your mailbox

In mid-October, the municipality mails every elector on the list a Voter Information Letter with your personal PIN. It can look like junk mail. It isn't. Don't recycle it.

3

Vote early in the window

From Monday, October 19 at 9 a.m. until Monday, October 26 at 8 p.m., use your PIN to vote online or by phone; it takes two minutes. Don't wait for the last day.

Plan your vote Circle your day, add it to your calendar, and get a reminder.

Need a hand, or a replacement letter once voting opens? The Voter Help Centre at the municipal office (10227 Ilderton Road, Coldstream) keeps extended hours through the voting window. For dates, wards and everything official, see the municipality's 2026 election page.

Get a voting reminder

We'll send a few reminders about the October 19 to 26 voting window by text, email, or both, depending on what you share. If you give a mobile number we text you once right away; reply YES to confirm and you're in. Texts stop the moment you reply STOP, and every email includes an unsubscribe link. We never sell your information or share it beyond the services that run this site.

Rather use your calendar?

Room for a sign on your lawn?

Lawn signs are how a campaign without a budget gets seen. We drop it off, we take it away after election day, and it costs you nothing but a patch of grass.

Yes, I'll put one up

Thank you!
